NEW MUSIC: KANYE WEST F/ RZA, JAY-Z, PUSHA T, SWIZZ BEATZ & CYHI THE PRYNCE – “SO APPALLED”

It’s time to get “So Appalled” with Kanye West, Jay-Z, RZA, Pusha T, Swizz Beatz and Cyhi The Prynce, the seventh leak from his G.O.O.D. Fridays series. And if the track sounds familiar, that’s because Tyga used the same beat for “I’m So Raw” lifted from his joint mixtape with Chris Brown, Fan of a Fan.

VIDEO: NELLY – “JUST A DREAM”

Nelly finds his dreamworld crumbling down in his new Sanji-directed video for “Just A Dream,” the lead single from his upcoming sixth studio album Nelly 5.0. The track, co-written by Rico Love and produced by Jim Jonsin, recently peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the STL rapper’s first top 10 hit on the chart since “Grillz” hit #1 in ’05.

First off, I’m still surprised that Nelly managed to garner a hit single following the foolish album era known as Brass Knuckles, so clap-clap-bravo to Mr. Haynes. Also, the dramatic feel of the video fits the track perfectly, so he’s got a win-win situation going on.

Nelly 5.0 hits stores on November 15th.

*UPDATE* So the server is acting a mess right about now and won’t embed the video, so you can peep the video HERE

NEW MUSIC: NICKI MINAJ – “RIGHT THRU ME”

Nicki Minaj ditches the Roman Zolanski accent in favor of some old-school mixtape Nicki delivery on “Right Thru Me,” the latest single to be lifted from her upcoming debut album Pink Friday. The track leaked a couple of days ago, but now here’s the CDQ version to keep your ears satisfied.

I’m diggin’ the concept of the track, how she’s somewhat having a convo with her dude. Also, this reminds me of the Nicki I was introduced to via mixtapes a few years ago that made me a fan to begin with. I can see this being another hit for her.

BEYONCE TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE IN 3 WEEKS?

Ever since she ended her I Am… Tour earlier this year, we’ve seen Beyonce doing everyday normal things around NYC (like driving and clubbing) and hitting international vacation spots with her hubby Jay-Z. But in the last couple of months, Bey has been quietly hitting the recording studio to record her forthcoming fourth solo album. But could we be getting a brand new single as early as in three weeks?

According to producer LOS Da Mystro, it may very well be true! “Listening to new B record [The-] Dream wrote” he says. “F*cking insane! Wow! She about to kill the game again! Had to listen again!! Ya’ll [will see] in 3 weeks!” When pressed by fans if this was really true, he later added: “Thats what they saying now. But it is the music business. It could be sooner or later.”

If it happens, I’ll actually be satisfied because I’m anxious to hear her over a LOS Da Mystro beat. Some may say Beyonce needs to sit down and have some babies with Hov, but at the end of the day those same people are the ones scrambling to hear new music from Bey.

Anywho, this new album is shaping up to be something serious. Jim Jonsin recently stated he did some “80′s synthpop/Depeche Mode”-type records for her, Sean Garrett said he did some club bangers for her and this is her biggest album to date, and Ne-Yo says she’s in her own lane when it comes to the new material.

Other producers that’s been in the studio with Bey include Rich Harrison, Tricky Stewart, Rodney Jerkins and even rapper Q-Tip.

By the looks of the list, this could be a mature version B’Day.

LYFE JENNINGS RETURNING TO PRISON

Following his ten-year stint in prison for arson, Lyfe Jennings garnered national attention on Showtime at The Apollo back in 2003, which led to his major-label signing with Columbia Records and spawned four releases that have sold a combined 2+ million copies. When Lyfe declared that his new album I Still Believe would be his final studio effort, he wasn’t playing games, because the R&B singer is returning to a place that’s familiar to him…prison!

Born Chester Bamsu Jennings, the 37 year-old appeared in an Atlanta courtroom to face sentencing for firing a weapon and leading police on a high-speed chase following a 2008 domestic dispute with the mother of his two children, former manager Joy Bounds. His attorneys had hoped the judge would be lenient  for a one-year sentence, but instead the convicted felon received 42 months starting immediately, with the remainder on probation.

“I did it. I gotta be punished for it and I just want the opportunity to apologize,” a remorseful Jennings told the judge as he fought back tears in the courtroom.

Lyfe took the time to deliver his last tweet before heading to jail. “This will be my last post. To everyone who gave me a chance I am forever in your debt,” he wrote. “I have had a fabulous career because of you. All I can say in parting is that I have been honest with yaw. I didn’t sugarcoat a word didn’t hold back a single sylible of my life from yaw.”

In spite of his current situation, Lyfe remained optimistic of his future. “I’ve lived a hundred lives in these 6 yrs so I not only won’t, i don’t have the right to complain. I would like to think that I’ve changed lives by changing my own, tho I can’t be sure. But one thing I am sure of is God gives and takes away in measure. He is fair, just and forever. Amen from aman… Smile, its contageous:)”

He was also due to go on a tour in support of his new album, which recently debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200.

VIDEO: KERI HILSON – “BREAKING POINT”

Keri Hilson has FINALLY debuted the video for her new single “Breaking Point.” The Bryan Barber-directed clip, showing scorned women sippin’ Nuvo in a hair salon and beating the pavement in anger, was shot in her hometown of Atlanta a month ago. The Timbaland-produced soulful cut is the lead single from MISS KERI BAAABY‘s upcoming sophomore effort No Boys Allowed and has so far peaked at #72 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart.

So the video was decent, which I didn’t expect any thing spectacular because I mean listen to the song. But, I can see this being a road block in her releasing her album at the end of the year due to the song not performing well at radio, digitally or on the charts. Maybe a miracle will happen and the video will make people take notice, but this is just the same situation her debut In A Perfect World was dealt. And it’s sad, because the song has somewhat grown on me.

MEET THE NEW ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ JUDGES

Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Ryan Seacrest

We all pretty much knew this when speculation arose several weeks ago, but it’s now more official than ever that Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith‘s lead singer Steven Tyler are the newest judges on the upcoming tenth season of American Idol. One original judge from the Simon Cowell/Paula Abdul-era that’s still in tact is Randy Jackson. Following the departure of Simon, and Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi getting the boot quitting, Fox announced its new trio of judges during a live press conference at The Forum in Los Angeles yesterday.

Now that Idol execs are no longer working alongside RCA Label Group/Sony to distribute the albums of the winners and runner-ups, it would only make sense to have Jimmy Iovine (the head of Interscope) become a mentor to the contestants. Interscope is now the new label home to the future Idol winners.

Who do you think will be the Simon Cowell of the new panel? Will Randy finally go off on the untalented? Will be get the boricua Jenny from the Bronx keeping it 100? We shall see when the season premiere returns in January on FOX.

Also, looks like J. Lo’s oft-delayed Love? will suffer another drawback unless she’s still good at multi-tasking.
